How to add a moderator bot to YouTube live chat
By Debarshi Parasar · Updated November 5, 2026
Spam and bad links can fill a live chat quickly, and you can't watch it all while streaming. The CHATDOOM moderator bot removes messages and times people out using rules you choose. You don't need to sign in with Google or create any keys.
Step 1: Add the bot to your channel
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Settings, then Community.
- Under Moderators, add
@ChatDoom. CHATDOOM's YouTube mod page shows the same name. - Wait a minute for it to take effect. YouTube sometimes renames these menus, so look for the option to add a channel as a moderator.
Moderators can only remove chat messages and time people out. They can't see anything private on your channel.
Step 2: Verify your channel
You need to be live for this step. It proves the stream is yours, so nobody else can use the bot on your chat.
- Paste your live link on the Connect page.
- Press "Verify my channel". CHATDOOM shows a short code.
- Type that code in your own live chat. Within a few seconds, CHATDOOM shows "Verified".
Verification lasts about 90 days.
Step 3: Choose what to remove
- Choose your rules: blocked words, links and spam. The blocked word list is on the Moderation page.
- Start in test mode. The feed shows what would be removed, without removing anything.
- Turn test mode off when you are happy with the results.
You and your moderators are never touched, and repeat offenders get a time-out.
Good to know
- CHATDOOM must be open and connected to your YouTube live chat for the bot to work.
- YouTube limits how many actions the bot can take each day, so CHATDOOM stops at your daily limit. The default is 60 and the maximum is 150.
- If a message can't be matched exactly, the bot reports that it couldn't find it instead of deleting something else.
- If CHATDOOM says the bot isn't a moderator yet, repeat step 1.
Keep going
Next, have your chat read aloud in OBS, or tell your Discord server when you go live with stream alerts.
